Our Story

How it started

Our adventure began in 2017 when we decided to start from the ground up. We were fortunate enough to buy land in the oldest and most charming part of the city. It’s been quite the journey!

After two years in 2019, we began constructing our home. By 2022, we were ringing in the new year in our new place. In late 2023, we welcomed our first guest as a way to test out this side business for some extra cash.

Just a heads up, some parts of the place might still be a work in progress, like the yard. But don’t worry, we’re hustling to get everything finished up.

Why Jays?

That’s a good question! Jay is a vibrant and constantly active bird, known as “chkhikvi” in Georgia. My last name, when translated into English, means “Jays son.” In Georgian, it is Chkhikvadze. Since there are several “jays” in our family, we chose to give it this distinct yet closely connected name, JAYS

Big Jays

Nodari & Elza

I’m Nodari, and I live in Kutaisi, Georgia, the oldest city in Europe. I’m happily married and have two wonderful kids.
I’m an avid hiker, rafter, kayaker, caver, canyoneer, and zip-liner. I also have a passion for photography, 3-D printing, and drone photography.
I’n addition to English, I speak Russian, a little German, Italian, Turkish, and of course, Georgian—often considered one of the most challenging languages to learn
I’ve seen all the corners of the Georgia, in every seasons and K can talk about about them in details. If you’d like to see some of my photography work, you can find it on my website.
